Cellucor C4 Extreme pre workout has taken the supplement industry by storm and has risen to the top of the pre workout market. Meanwhile, Mesomorph, as a brand has been around for much longer, and after the DMAA ban, APS Mesomorph 2.0 has been ferociously defending its reputation as being one of the strongest pre workouts around. Which one should you get?

C4 vs Mesomorph Ingredients

C4 and Mesomorph share some common ingredients such as beta-alanine, arginine alpha ketoglutarate (AAKG), creatine nitrate, and caffeine. In addition to these common ingredients, C4 has tyrosine, bitter orange, and some B vitamins. Mesomorph on the other hand, has citrulline, creatine malate, taurine, creatinol-O-phosphate, agmatine, glucuronolactone, theobromine, narigen, and Acacia rigidula.

Winner: APS Mesomorph – The addition of citrulline (superior for pump compared to arginine) as well as the stimulants theobromine and Acacia rigidula give Mesomorph the edge.

C4 vs Mesomorph Dosage

C4 has excellent labelling transparency which makes working out dosage simple. When taken at the maximum recommended serving size (2 scoops – 10.6 g), C4 gives you plenty of everything. Mesomorph (15.5 g/serve) on the other hand, does not disclose its dosage for most ingredients. APS do make reference to the product containing 4000 mg beta-alanine and 5000 mg citulline, which is more than generous. However, this is nowhere to be found on the actual product label. For this reason, C4 wins for its labelling transparency, because we can actually tell how much of everything it has.

Winner: Cellucor C4 Extreme

C4 vs Mesomorph Effectiveness

This is what pre workouts are all about, the way the ingredients interact to give the user a memorable workout experience. Although it is difficult to know for sure, Mesomorph definitely feels like the stronger pre workout in regards to stimulants. However, it may be too strong. Mesomorph’s stimulant matrix simply does not feel as good or as clean as that provided by C4. Despite being higher in ingredients such as beta-alanine and citrulline, this reviewer prefers the overall experience provided by C4.

Winner: Cellucor C4 Extreme

C4 vs Mesomorph Taste, Flavour, & Mixability

When it comes to variety, few pre workouts can compare to the number of flavours provided by C4 (total of 8 – three more than Mesomorph). Other than the typical flavours like fruit punch and grape, C4 also comes in strawberry margarita. Other than this, both products mix well and taste more than pleasant. However, it should be mentioned that Mesomorph does leave an unusual and lingering aftertaste, which is absent in C4. C4 is in fact, one of the best tasting pre workouts on the market today. Another criticism for Mesomorph is the recommended amount of water for making up the pre workout, 940 mL!

Winner: Cellucor C4 Extreme

C4 vs Mesomorph Price & Value

C4 comes in two sizes, either 170 g or 350 g. The 350 g tub of C4 is supposed to give 60 scoops, but realistically you’re looking at 2 scoops per serve, which means that each 350 g tub would last 30 sessions. This is still 6 more than the 24 serves offered by Mesomorph. Consequently, if you were to crunch the numbers, C4 works out to be around $0.60 cheaper per serve.

Winner: Cellucor C4 Extreme

C4 vs Mesomorph Overall Winner

Mesomorph may use superior ingredients, but C4 wins out in regards to dosing, effectiveness, taste, and value.

Overall winner: Cellucor C4 Extreme by 4 to 1.
