Australian sports supplement powerhouse Max's have recently completed a revamping of their protein powder range. The overhaul has resulted in a new look for each of their protein powders, while two of them (i.e. Reload HGF & WPI) have been subject to a name change and reformulation. Reload HGF is now called Hydroload, while WPI now takes the name of WPI HL. Specific details of each formula change are covered in our reviews for Hydroload and WPI HL, however, in short the upgrades have seen each product incorporate more contemporary proteins in the form of whey hydrolysates high in leucine rich peptides. Recent research shows these type of hydrolysates are the most effective both for muscle recovery and growth.
It's worth noting that Max's have done a great job improving the visual look and feel of their protein line up. Some would say that their traditional package design was starting to look a little outdated, with the heavy use of the 'muscle man' and colourful backgrounds. The new look packaging retains the core Max's elements, in the form of the muscle man, but also brings with it a more contemporary and smart look.
