- Ingredients have other beneficial effects besides raising testosterone
Jay Cutler Big T Ingredients
Big T is a novel formulation, containing classic testosterone boosting ingredients like zinc, and aspartic acid, and some interesting plant based ingredients, like Turmeric, Yerba Mate, Stinging Nettle, and Ginger, which have recently shown potential in increasing testosterone levels.
Jay Cutler Big T Pros & Effectiveness
Jay Cutler Big T is a unique formulation which shies away from the typical set of ingredients found in most test boosters. This distinguishes Big T from most of the other test boosters on the market. All the ingredients present in Big T have shown some testosterone boosting effects in either in vitro or in vivo single ingredient studies. The ingredients in this product were specifically chosen because they have been scientifically investigated and shown promise in raising testosterone levels.
In addition to boosting testosterone levels, some of these ingredients have added benefits. There is some evidence that zinc is beneficial for the immune system and the skin, turmeric is known for its strong antioxidant properties, and is often used in recovery supplements, and Yerba Mate is known as an ergogenic, stimulant, and an aid to fat loss.
Jay Cutler Big T Cons
While the ingredients of Big T are listed, all but zinc are included as part of a proprietary formula, so the exact dose of each is unknown. That said, the recommended effective doses of many of the constituent ingredients are greater than the serving size of the entire product. This means that many of the ingredients in Big T, while scientifically tested, are likely to be included at much lower doses than were effective in the studies. Zinc, at 15mg per serving, is dosed on the low side of the effective range, meaning that it may be safe to take a double, or even a triple dose of this product, although due to the high caffeine content in Yerba Mate, this approach should be attempted slowly and with caution.
Tumeric, while known to possess significant benefits, is a particularly poorly absorbed substance. Studies have shown that combining turmeric with piperine, from black pepper, may increase absorption of curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, into the blood stream by up to 2000%. This small inclusion could potentially have made a large difference to this product.
D-Aspartic acid is known, through a cascade of reactions, to stimulate the Leydig cells in the testes to release testosterone. The inclusion of L-Aspartic Acid in this formulation is therefore puzzling. While L-Aspartic Acid can isomerise into the D- form, this is an inefficient reaction. Including active D-Aspartic acid seems like it would have been a better choice.
Jay Cutler Big T Taste and Mixability
Big T mixes exceptionally well, requiring only a cup and spoon. Both of the two flavours, fruit punch and watermelon, have been quite well received. It must be said, that upon opening the product for the first time, this reviwer was surprised to see the intensely yellow coloured powder. No doubt from the tumeric. However once dissolved, the colourings kick in, and the pink/red colours show through.
Jay Cutler Big T Verdict
Big T is a unique product containing an interesting mix of classic ingredients and those at the cutting edge of research, and it is well priced per serve. This is a great product for someone looking to try something new and different.
