Dianabol (Methandrostenolone)

What is Methandrostenolone (Dianabol)?

Methandrostenolone is an anabolic steroid, effective when taken by mouth. It binds to androgenic receptors in a way similar to testosterone, and exhibits the same effects as this hormone in an amplified manner. Testosterone in normal amounts is essential to a healthy human being; it controls many reproductive systems in both males and females, as well as promoting muscle and bone mass. However, methandrostenolone is a controlled substance in most Western Countries due to the tendency of some body builders, athletes and professional sports people abusing the substance in order to gain muscle mass.

Why Use Methandrostenolone (Dianabol)?

Methandrostenolone dramatically increases protein synthesis, greatly amplifying the process by which the body puts on muscle. It is the best strength increasing steroid available, in that it improves the quality of muscle tissue as well as gaining size. It also speeds up glycogenolysis, providing higher amounts of energy within the muscles during the training. The formulation of this steroid also means that it can be taken orally, allowing ease of use and none of the problems associated with injectables and needle use.

Methandrostenolone (Dianabol) Side Effects

The potent effects of this steroid mean that it also has strong side effects. This steroid can be taken orally due to the fact that it can pass through the liver and remain relatively unbroken down. Unfortunately, it is this characteristic that can also lead to extreme liver damage when taken for extended periods of time. It can cause cysts and tumours within the liver, and will lead to complete failure of the liver if taken for too long. The way in which it is metabolised also has great consequences for male users. It is eventually broken down into oestrogen, the female hormone, and will create ‘womanising’ effects over time. These include the growth of breasts, reduction in size of the testes and fluid retention.

For women, it comes with masculinising features, due to its similiarity to testosterone. These include lowering in voice, facial and body hair, reduction in breast size and enlargement of the clitoris. It also has effects on the general health of the body. Its use is associated with high cholesterol levels, enlargement of the heart and oedema (water retention around the heart), all of which can lead to stroke or heart failure. Kidney function can be impaired, bone growth stunted in young users, nausea, erectile problems and acne are all common, and psychologically it can cause depression, increased aggression and insomnia.

Methandrostenolone (Dianabol) Alternatives?

There are numerous alternatives available that mimic the effects of steroids, without the illegality issues and side effects. Known as Testosterone Support Supplements, they use compounds extracted from food or herbal products and increase the muscle building hormone testosterone, working within your body’s normal limits. These include tribulus, longifolia (longjack), horny goat weed and D Aspartic Acid supplements to name a few.
