Growth Hormone (Also known as GH or HGH)
If bodybuilders all have one thing in common it’s the ultimate goal of growing muscles to their maximum size & strength. Growth Hormone (also known as GH, Human Growth Hormone or HGH) supplementation is a healthy and safe way to optimise growth hormone levels without the use of dangerous and illegal anabolic drugs. GH supplementation makes it possible for sprinters, rugby players, bodybuilders and all athletes involved in strength and power-based sports to gain muscle size and strength without gaining excess fat. GH is a hormone produced by the anterior lobe of the brain's pituitary gland and is predominantly found in the bloodstream. It is used as treatment for short stature in children, which is caused by a hormone deficiency. It is also administered to paediatric patients to improve skeletal and overall growth. Growth Hormone can accelerate the healing of bone fractures and wounds, as well as be used as treatment for gastrointestinal bleeding. Other positive side effects include improved psychological wellbeing, improved immune function, the reduction of LDL (bad) cholesterol, increase in HDL (good) cholesterol and overall improved physical function. It has also been known to energise the mind and improve mind-degenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Another use for GH is supplementation for livestock, which causes animals such as chickens and cows to grow larger, this today is a standard practice.
Dr. Daniel Rudman first discovered the benefits of growth hormone over 10 years ago. Publishing his findings in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine, Rudman showed that just 6 months of growth hormone treatment increased lean muscle by almost 9%. Another study recorded this figure, as well as a 14.2% decrease in adipose-tissue mass (fat). GH stacks well with other muscle building supplements such as Nitric Oxide, Proteins & Creatines, as well as Testosterone Supplements including Tribulus or Long Jack. Most GH supplements will include ingredients such as L-Glutamine, L-arginine, L-ornithine & L-lysine due to their ability to promote the release of Growth Hormone. When combining GH with a high-protein diet, most users may expect to gain an extra 3 to 5 kilos of new muscle over a 2 to 3 month period. This, however, depends on the individual, and results do vary.
When consuming GH supplements it's important to note they in general should be consumed at a different time to other protein supplements or foods. These other proteins shall contain a spectrum of amino acids which likely shall "compete" with the amino ingredients of your GH supplement & lessen it's effictiveness. Pregnant and lactating women should avoid GH supplements.
