BSc HydroxyBurn Lean 5 Review

The new version takes the supplement into a brand new direction, and is very much different from the previous versions. Let’s take a look at what you can find in Lean 5 and how well it stacks against its competition.
BSc HydroxyBurn Lean 5 Highlights

BSc Hydroxyburn Lean 5 Ingredients & Dosages
BSc’s HydroxyBurn Lean 5 has definitely deviated quite substantially from what it used to be. While it still contains 5 sources of protein, it has stripped back the use of pretty much all of its fat loss support ingredients except for carnitine. The core formula now consists of:
- Proprietary Protein Blend – Whey protein concentrate (WPC), micellar casein, whey protein isolate (WPI), hydrolysed whey protein isolate and calcium caseinate
- L-Carnitine – 100mg
- Poyldextrose – 4.5g
- Added vitamins and minerals
The biggest difference with the Lean 5 formula is the addition of the “Advanced Digestive Enzyme DigeZyme and Prebiotic Orafti Inulin Matrix”, which includes:
- Chicory Inulin
Each 35g serve of BSc HydroxyBurn Lean 5 now provides 122 calories, around 21.9g of protein, 3.8g of active carbs, 5.2g of dietary fibre and 0.7g of fat.
BSc Hydroxyburn Lean 5 Benefits, Pros & Effectiveness
Although the HydroxyBurn Lean 5 has changed slightly from its previous formula, at the core, it is still an incredible sustained release protein, providing 5 different sources to help support up to 8 hrs of protein delivery to the muscles. This makes it perfect for those trainers who might not have the time to eat, but still want the benefits of a continuous supply of muscle building amino acids.
The addition of a range of different digestive enzymes will also help to support improved absorption of nutrients and ensure minimal gastrointestinal side effects such as bloating or gas. These enzymes will also act on the meals that you eat, ensuring you’re getting the most out of your intake.
In terms of fat loss, HydroxyBurn Lean 5 has taken a brand new approach and has decided to utilise a mix of fibres including polydextrose and inulin. Fibre has long been considered an excellent tool in combating weight loss by promoting satiety (fullness) as well as improved insulin control (more even blood sugar rises). It is uneven insulin and blood sugar levels that generally results in increased appetite as well as fat storage amongst other negative side effects. These fibres also have the added effect of promoting healthier gut bacteria; which is now being investigated as one potential contributor to improved body composition.
BSc Hydroxyburn Lean 5 Gainer Negatives & Cons
While it’s nice to see BSc trying something new, it is perplexing why they’ve decided to remove almost all the other beneficial fat loss and metabolism boosting ingredients such as green tea extract, phaseolamin and other forms of carnitine.
BSc Hydroxyburn Lean 5 Flavours, Taste & Mixability
Hydroxyburn Lean 5 has continued to stick by traditional flavour choices with Chocolate and Vanilla, but have also added in two novel choices in the form of Salted Caramel and Pineapple Coconut. It’s excellent to see the company go out on a limb and try out some different choices. While the previous version HydroxyBurn Shred faltered slightly with its taste and flavours; this time round, BSc have done much better with its formulation. The flavours are rich, but not overpowering and the protein mixes easily and smoothly. While the Pineapple Coconut flavour does take some getting used to, it’s a nice change from the usual chocolates and vanillas and is perfect if you’re using it to make a tropical flavoured smoothie.
BSc Hydroxyburn Lean 5 Verdict
The new BSc HydroxyBurn Lean 5 protein powder comes with both hits and misses. At its core, it is still a fantastic, sustained release protein that is perfect for anytime of day, as a meal replacement, an in between meal snack or simply as a pre/post workout shake. The new addition of inulin fibre helps to support improved digestion, improved gut bacteria and a more even glycaemic response; all aspects which can support fat loss. It is an odd choice however that they’ve removed almost all of the fat loss and metabolism boosting ingredients from the previous version of the supplement. Overall, if you’re looking for a new tasty protein to try out; HydroxyBurn Lean 5 can certainly cut it with the rest, but it’s certainly not your typical fat loss protein anymore.
