Cellucor C4 has been one of the most dominant pre workout formulas on the market for quite some time now and with the recent release of a whole new range of C4 variations, the brand will no doubt continue to grow. One of the more interesting variations of the supplement has been a ready to drink (RTD) version of the original known as Cellucor C4 On the Go.
Cellucor C4 On the Go Highlights
- Ready to drink and convenient pre workout formula
- Retains most of the key active ingredients of the original C4 such as Beta Alanine, Caffeine and Arginine
- Help support energy, pump and endurance
Cellucor C4 On the Go Review & Ingredients
The formula for the RTD version of C4 is slightly different to that of the powdered version. Most of the core ingredients are there including:
The forms of the tyrosine and arginine have changed to arguably more functional and better absorbing forms. Creatine Nitrate has been removed as has TeaCor or the tetramethyluric acid. The dose of the caffeine though has increased from 160mg per serve to 200mg. Each serving of the C4 On the Go is 295mL with roughly 3876mg of key active ingredients.
Cellucor C4 On the Go Benefits, Pros & Effectiveness
The new On the Go version of C4 is still an excellent pre workout formulation, which retains much of the original C4 formula. Overall, there’s a good hit of caffeine to help boost energy levels, while the beta alanine and arginine nitrate will help support endurance and pump. The final active tyrosine is there to help with mental focus. Aside from the formula though, C4 On the Go is super convenient and doesn’t require you to have a tub of powder on you and having to fiddle with finding your scoop and possibly spilling the powder everywhere. It’s something you can easily store in the fridge at work for an ice cold pre workout drink just before you train. The removal of the creatine isn’t a huge issue, simply because creatine as an ingredient tends to work better taken everyday anyway regardless if you’re training or not. Each bottle is also super sturdy so there’s no risk of spillage or damage.
Cellucor C4 On the Go Negatives & Cons
It’s strange that the new C4 On the Go isn’t transparently labelled. The “Explosive Energy Blend” in the original wasn’t either, but the amount of beta alanine and arginine was. As such, it’s hard to work out just how much of each of these two the formula contains, but judging by the figures, should be roughly similar. Because of the packaging costs, each serve is also slightly more expensive than a serve of the powder, so you’re really paying for the convenience. In addition, if you’re used to having two scoops, this might make it a bit harder and definitely more expensive.
Cellucor C4 On the Go Flavours, Taste & Mixability
Cellucor’s C4 On the Go is currently only available in three flavours including Fruit Punch, Blue Raspberry and Watermelon. The pre made ready to drink is a little bit on the sweet side, so it’s something to really sip rather than scull. The flavours are also fairly concentrated, but doesn’t leave any negative after tastes. It’s still easy to drink and there are no issues with grittiness or residue.
Cellucor C4 On the Go Verdict
The new Cellucor C4 On the Go is a convenient, ready to drink formula that provides the essence of the original, but without the creatine, which isn’t such a big issue. There’s slightly more caffeine than the original, but if you’re used to two scoops of C4, the new RTD might not be enough to give you that added boost. The On the Go version of C4 is perfect for those who are new to pre workouts and those who want to try a new pre workout without necessarily wanting to buy the whole tub. If you’re planning to try a pre workout for the first time, you really can’t go wrong with the C4 range.
