Tips for Using Failure to Drive Your Bodybuilding Success

  • Anytime you undertake any challenging task, the possibility of short term failure exists, as obstacles blocking your path will have to be overcome in the process.

  • Use Failure To Your Advantage. Failure doesn’t have to discourage you. In fact, it can be a great training tool, as it defines limits for you, and it instructs you as to which parts of your program are working and which aren’t. It tells you where you are at in order to motivate you to reach higher levels of success.

  • Fear of Failure. It’s not failure that hurts the aware, it is the fear of failure that most often gets in the way. This can prevent you from trying hard, from releasing all of your energies, from summoning up total motivation. The fear of failure often helps to seek out failure.

  • There are many reasons why bodybuilders experience failure including setting unrealistic expectations or not setting goals at all, not having a solid support system and being too self-critical can all damage a person motivation levels which leads to failure.

  • Remember that failure is not a perminent condition and by overcoming your fears you will be able to understand what you need to do in order to reach your goals.

How Bodybuilders Can Overcome Failure

  • Don’t fear failure. Train as hard as you can, push the boundaries to ascertain what your strength and endurance limitations really are. Push yourself until can go no further. As the saying goes, “you don’t know how much enough is until you know how much too much is.”

  • Experiencing failure is all part of the process of achieving greatness. Once you experience failure in its various forms, such as failure to lift a weight, to get through a workout, or to place well in a contest, you will know much more about yourself. This will help you plan the next stage of your training more smartly. Learn from past failures, thus you can actually benefit from them. Step over your limit occasionally. This will fuel your satisfaction and confidence, and those who fear to test their limits will fail to enjoy these aspects of success.

  • Always be positive and never say to yourself, "I'm a failure" instead tell yourself, "I have failed at something, but I am going to do something about it."

  • You can reduce the risk of failure by staying posititive, motivated, setting realistic goals, having a strong support system and be prepared to work hard. Remember you will only get out of bodybuilding what you put in and that every failure is an opportunity to learn, make adjustments and try again to succeed.
