Scivation have always been a bit of a dark horse in the supplement world. They have an extremely dedicated fan base and those who use Scivation products swear by it. The company has also been credited as being the first or one of the first supplement companies to popularise the ‘Intra Workouts’ supplement category with their extremely popular and multi award winning supplement Xtend. Their latest release is Scivation Psycho, their hardcore replacement to their pre-workout Novem.

Scivation Psycho Pros & Effectiveness
Scivation Psycho is testament to what hard work, good research and proper formulation can achieve and that is one hell of a supplement. Looking at the ingredients, most of them have plenty of research supporting its effectiveness and ergogenic potential for exercise. Creatine is excellent at supporting strength, energy levels and exercise performance, while beta-alanine and ubiquinol are ideal support mechanisms for fatigue.
The combination of caffeine, taurine and glucuronolactone is a well studied combination that has been shown to support both aerobic and anaerobic exercise performance as well as strength, leans gains and endurance capacity. Caffeine, dendrobium and higenamine all possess stimulatory properties which can assist with enhancing focus, attention and also support reductions in the perceptions of fatigue.
Citrulline and higenamine are both compounds that can increase blood flow which is beneficial in achieving the pump and providing more oxygen to your working muscles.
Scivation Psycho Cons
The main issue with Scivation Psycho is dosing and the use of a proprietary formula. While the ingredients used are excellent in assisting with exercise performance, the amounts of each ingredient are quite small, especially with 1 scoop. One scoop may be fine for those who are completely new to pre-workouts and those who are just starting training, but if you’ve had a pre-workout before or train regularly and intensely, you’ll be needing 2-3 scoops.
Indian Gooseberry and Kanna are both interesting ingredients to include. Neither of them are well studied for enhancing exercise performance. Indian Gooseberry can help lower blood sugar and cholesterol while kanna improves mood and reduces anxiety and while these are good effects, they seem unsuited to a pre-workout.
Scivation Psycho Taste & Mixability
Scivation Psycho is currently available in two flavours; Apple Asylum and Ragin’ Punch. Scivation has always been well known for their tasty flavours and well mixing products, especially with their Xtend supplements, so these two characteristics should not be an issue with Psycho.
Scivation Psycho Verdict
Every once in awhile, a supplement emerges that really takes the crowd by storm. Scivation’s Psycho certainly has the characteristics to make that happen. After all, they’ve done it once with Scivation Xtend. Psycho is an excellent collection of well researched ingredients and from testimonials so far is one of the best pre-workout experiences around with strong focus and strength support. The dosing of core active ingredients may be a slight issue, but nothing a couple more scoops can’t fix.
