Max’s BetaPump Black Review

One of the most iconic brands in Australia, Max’s have reinvented themselves recently with the release of a wide range of new supplements such as their 100% Pure WheyClean Mass and Shred System. Getting away from protein powders though, Max’s has also brought out an updated and stronger version of their pre workout BetaPump.  Known as Max’s BetaPump Black, let’s take a look at what you can expect and how it compares with the original and its competitors.

Max’s BetaPump Black Highlights

  • Increased caffeine content for stronger energy support.
  • Good hit of pump support ingredients which help to enhance blood flow to the muscles
  • Help improve focus, motivation and attention
  • Support endurance capacity during cardio or weight training
  • Full transparent labelling

Max’s BetaPump Black Ingredients & Dosages

Max’s BetaPump Black contains a very similar ingredient profile to the original, however has simply upped the dosage of some ingredients, added a couple of new ones and swapped some out. The main changes include:

  • Transparent labelling of ALL active ingredients
  • Increasing the caffeine content to 325mg
  • Added Tyrosine (500mg), Creatine HCL (750mg) and Betaine (1250mg)

The rest of the formula has stayed relatively similar, separated into two complexes including:

  • Max’s Energy & Focus Matrix – Beta-Alanine (1600mg) and D-Glucuronolactone (400mg)
  • Max’s Nitric Oxide Matrix - Citrulline Malate 2:1 (1000mg), L-Arginine HCL (750mg), Agmatine Sulfate (400mg)

A couple of other ingredients have been left out from either of the two complex and include:

  • Choline Bitartrate (400mg)
  • Alpha Lipoic Acid (25mg)
  • Niacin (20mg)
  • Cyanocobalamin (15mg)
  • Pyrodoxine (2mg)

The serving size has remained the same at 10g with each tub containing about 30 serves, however, you can easily get 60 serves from the supplement if you don’t need that many stims.

Max’s BetaPump Black Benefits, Pros & Effectiveness

What BetaPump Black has done well this time round is simplifying the formula and transparently labelling everything. This demonstrates a company who is willing to lay it all down on the line to be judged and critiqued and that definitely deserves some kudos.

The second thing that Max’s should be applauded for is a formula that includes some of the best pre workout ingredients around. They’ve focused on the main three: caffeine, beta-alanine and citrulline, but they’ve also added in other excellent additions such as betaine, tyrosine, agmatine, choline and some B vitamins.

In terms of effects, you’re going to find yourself experiencing a phenomenal energy kick that goes beyond that of a stimulant boost. It’s a much more smoother effect thanks to the addition of focus enhancers choline, tyrosine and the B vitamins. As such, you most likely wouldn’t be experiencing a significant crash during the come down. BetaPump Black also offers a moderate endurance and pump, which should last anyone training within a two hour time period.

Max’s BetaPump Black Negatives & Cons

Like the original, the new BetaPump Black had to make a trade off between energy/focus and endurance/pump. This is due to their smaller 10g serving and the fact that many endurance and pump ingredients require a much larger dose. Having said that, it still does offer these effects, but is geared more for those who are aiming to hit the gym with more motivation and attention.

As previously mentioned in our BetaPump Review, the inclusion of alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is an odd choice. The ingredient itself is involved in aerobic metabolism, displays insulin like effects and may support improved blood flow, but no studies currently show improved exercise performance with its supplementation. On top of this, many of the above effects are a result of longer term supplementation. We are being nitpicky here though, as there aren’t too many other issues we have with the supplement.

Max’s BetaPump Black Flavours, Taste & Mixability

BetaPump Black is available in the same two flavours as the original, including Blue Raspberry and Orange Pineapple, however has added in an extra flavour of Green Apple. Like the original, the product mixes superbly without any noticeable residue or grittiness. Although the powder itself smells quite strong, it does mix into a pleasant smelling and tasting shake, which isn’t too sweet.

Max’s BetaPump Black Verdict

While the original BetaPump was a good pre workout, the were some issues which ultimately let it down. These issues have since been corrected in the new BetaPump Black from Max’s. It’s a much more focused formulation, which is exactly what the supplement will provide as well as a jolt of energy that will have you eager to train and crushing through all your exercises at a swift pace. While the pump and endurance side of things can be improved, it’s a fairly well rounded supplement that should leave any trainer happy with their workout performance.
