Muscle Separation Defined
Muscle separation is a level of muscularity beyond simple definition. Training and diet can give good definition, but a lot more is required to become a ‘walking anatomy chart’ to win competitions. A quality physique must show clear separation between each muscle group. For example, when doing a rear double biceps shot, the borders between the biceps and triceps, shoulder, traps, and upper and lower back should be clearly defined, and leap out at the judges, showing clear distinctions. For example the two heads of the biceps, the three heads of the triceps should be clearly defined. Each head should be patterned with visible striations of each individual bundles of muscle fibre. Total Muscle Separation is the result of training each muscle thoroughly so that every aspect is brought out and fully revealed once your body fat is sufficiently reduced. This requires a variety of exercises for each muscle, and many sets and reps, as well as good and specific technique.
Muscle Isolation For Muscle Separation
You need to isolate each muscle and then each specific area of every muscle to engage every fibre possible, to create clear separation between each muscle and major body part. This is achieved by knowing exactly how each exercise affects the muscles and putting together a program that sculpts the body exactly as you intend.
Strictness of Form
Muscle separation cannot be achieved without employing strictness of movement involving concentrated effort through the entire range of motion during an exercise. Every engaged fibre needs to be subjected to the maximum amount of stress and any sloppiness of form defeats this purpose. Unless you perform an isolation exercise in a strict manner, you will not be working the specific area for which the exercise was designed. For example when doing a front dumbbell raise (for deltoid-pectoral separation), swinging the weight up instead of making the muscle do the work you will not bring out the full shape or separation of the muscles. If you want to work a certain area, you must do the movement strictly to feel it where you want.
Muscle Definition Tips
Without strictness of form, you will not be able to bring out the level of separation required in bodybuilding competitions. Whilst compound movements are important to build overall muscle and bulk, isolation movements must be employed to develop the degree of definition and separation required at this elite level. It’s important to follow a safe fat reduction diet to reduce your body fat to reveal your desired level of definition. Proper diet and supplementation aimed at low body fat is a very important factor to achieve outstanding muscle separation.
