Cyclopentamine

What is Cyclopentamine?

Cyclopentamine or Cyclopentamine Chloride is a compound which was originally used as an over the counter nasal decongestant but also has a range of stimulant properties – similar to that of other amphetamines.

Where Does Cyclopentamine Come From?

Cyclopentamine is a synthetic compound that is produced using two key compounds; cyclopentanone (a colourless liquid with a peppermint like odor commonly used in the production of fragrances) and cyanoacetic acid (a compound that is commonly used in the production of adhesives and also acts as a building block for various drugs)

Cyclopentamine Benefits

Cyclopentamine is classified as a sympathomimetic; that is, it acts on the sympathetic nervous system (the system that is responsible for the fight or flight response) thanks to its ability to mimic the effects of adrenaline, noradrenaline and dopamine. Sympathomimetics are commonly used as drugs to treat cardiac arrest, low blood pressure and even to halt premature labour. Cyclopentamine acts as a vasoconstrictor, which is why it is commonly used as a nasal decongestant by constricting the blood vessels in the upper respiratory tract to limit the inflammation and the mucus formation in this area.

Cyclopentamine Benefits for Bodybuilding

Cyclopentamine when orally ingested in sufficient amounts has similar stimulatory effects as stimulants such as amphetamines and methamphetamines. These substances commonly known as ‘speed’ and ‘crystal meth’ or ‘ice’ can be abused in a sporting situation thanks to its physical and physiological actions which include increased energy and alertness, decreased fatigue, increased self confidence and enhanced concentration. All of these aspects can be beneficial in a bodybuilding environment where achieving better growth means needing to lift heavier and longer, which requires more energy and less fatigue.

Side Effects, Safety & Negatives of Cyclopentamine

It should be noted first and foremost that Cyclopentamine is a banned substance according to WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency). Common side effects of cyclopentamine are similar to that of amphetamines and methamphetamines and can include: headaches, inability to concentrate, anxiety, increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, palpitations, insomnia and heart rhythm abnormalities just to name a few. Heavy use of cyclopentamine as with regular amphetamines and methamphetamines can result in addiction and increased severity of the aforementioned symptoms.

Cyclopentamine Recommended Doses and Ingredient Timing

Cyclopentamine is no longer used as a nasal decongestant due to the effectiveness and safety of propylhexadrine. However, amphetamines at a dose of 10-30mg have been found to result in better sports performance – whereas higher doses result in decreased sports performance.

Cyclopentamine Supplements

Cyclopentamine is not found or used in any supplements, but can be a contaminant.

Cyclopentamine Alternatives

As cyclopentamine is a banned substance in sport, it is best to avoid its use. Try legal alternatives such as pre-workouts to support endurance, strength, power, focus, attention and concentration instead. Some popular pre-workouts include Cellucor C4, Pro Supps Mr Hyde and APS Mesomorph.
