BPI Sports have always been an innovative company producing products that are rarely seen in the supplement market. One supplement category that BPI Sports have not really ventured into has been protein powder; especially since the removal of their only protein supplement Super Pro a while back. Recently however, BPI Sports have decided to release a range of new supplements and renewed formulations with one of those new supplements being a whey protein titled Whey HD. Let’s take a look at what’s in Whey HD and how it compares with other proteins on the market.

BPI Sports Whey HD Highlights

  • 50g of Protein Per 2 Scoops With 5.5g BCAAs
  • Ultra Pure Premium Protein Blend with Whey Protein Concentrate, Isolate & Milk Protein Isolate
  • Added ProHydrolase - An Enzyme to Aid Digestion & Absorption
  • 5 Delicious Flavours

BPI Sports Whey HD Ingredients & Dosage

BPI Whey HD is a fairly simple blended whey protein with only a handful of ingredients including:

  • Muscle Building Whey Protein Blend – Consisting of whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate and milk protein isolate.
  • ProHydrolase – A proprietary and patented enzyme blend which aids in protein digestion and absorption.

The other ingredients contained in Whey HD are all flavours or ingredients which aid in mixing and shelf life. Each scoop of BPI Sports Whey HD provides 130 calories, 25g of Protein, 3g of carbohydrates and 2g of fat. From calculations of serving sizes, Whey HD hovers around 68-69% protein. There are currently three different sizes for Whey HD, a 5 serve (180g), a 25 serve (2lb or 907g) and a 58 serve (4.9lb or 2.2kg) tub.

BPI Sports Whey HD Pros & Effectiveness

BPI Sports Whey HD is a fairly simple blended whey protein and in that sense, it does what it needs to; provide a quick protein boost for after workouts or throughout the day. The use of milk protein isolates helps to slow down the absorption of the protein slightly to give you a more sustained amino acid release over a couple of hours, which is helpful for those who are slightly more time poor and find it hard to grab a protein meal every 3-4 hours.

BPI Sports Whey HD Cons

There aren’t any real negatives with BPI’s Whey HD. It’s a fairly pure blended whey and milk protein with only a couple of extra ingredients for flavour and mixability. It’s only real negative is that it’s not the best protein to be used prior to bed, but it does serve as an excellent day time protein.

BPI Sports Whey HD Taste & Mixability

Whey HD is currently available in 4 main flavours including; Chocolate Cookie, Peanut Butter Cookie, Strawberry Shortcake and Vanilla Caramel. The 5 serving version of the protein also comes in Cookies N Cream. BPI Sports Whey HD is one of the best tasting proteins currently on the market at the moment with a texture midway between Gaspari Nutrition’s MyoFusion and MusclePharm Combat. The powder mixes extremely well with a bit of frothing, but not residue or clumping.

BPI Sports Whey HD Verdict

It’s hard to get protein powders wrong. BPI have build up their brand in the last few years into a respected supplier of innovative supplements. Whey HD, although a less innovative supplement, represents an excellent business move and a suitable expansion into their current line of supplements; providing their clients with a robust alternative to the other proteins on the market and a product that works.
