PVL Vextrago - START BUILDING MUSCLE 70% FASTER!
POST EXERCISE GLYCOGEN WINDOW
Following high intensity training (weight training, sprinting, contact sports) it has long been known that the athlete has a finite amount of time to maximize the replacement of glycogen lost during exercise. The reason for this is that following exercise induced depletion of glycogen stores (the stored energy in your muscles) levels of the enzyme Glycogen Synthetase become elevated. This enzyme allows your body to replace lost muscle and liver glycogen.
Within a half hour of finishing high intensity training, Glycogen Synthetase levels drop dramatically and the “glycogen loading window” has passed. You will now still be able to replenish lost glycogen, but at a much slower rate. This means you will stay in a catabolic state for a longer period of time, dramatically reducing your bodies’ ability to build muscle tissue. The quicker the post workout shake is absorbed, the faster glycogen restoration halts catabolism and increases the rate of protein synthesis. As an additional cosmetic benefit, the extra glycogen and water will create full, round-bellied muscles, something all hard training physique athletes strive for.
POST WORKOUT CARBOHYDRATES
Athletes have been using sugary carbohydrates as post workout drinks for many years mainly due to the limited availability of anything better. dextrose has been the choice because of its high GI number. The Glycemic Index (GI) uses a number system based on how fast the food enters the bloodstream. The higher the GI, the quicker it will enter the bloodstream and raise insulin levels. The highest GI food is glucose, with a score of 100, and this is why dextrose (D-glucose, aka dextrose) was the best choice for rapidly starting the rebuilding and repairing process following a workout. Notice I said “was” the best choice.
Vextrago is a High Molecular Weight Carbohydrate that raises your anabolic insulin levels to about the same level as dextrose, but due to its high molecular weight, powers through your stomach into your small intestine almost twice as fast as dextrose, allowing restoration of glycogen 70% faster than any other carbohydrate. This causes no stomach bloating (long a problem with dextrose), and reaches your bloodstream faster than dextrose. It also restores glycogen 70% faster than dextrose. So tell me, how would you like to start rebuilding muscle 70% to 100% faster than you currently are following a workout?

OSMOLALITY; AND WHY THIS IS AN IMPORTANT WORD TO YOUR MUSCLES
What the heck is “osmolality” and “gastric emptying?”
Osmolality affects the transport of water and other solutes over the cell membranes. Osmolality is related to the specific osmolality of the blood, which is 280-303 mOsm/kg in humans. A solute that has the same osmolality as blood is said to be isotonic while a solute that has a lower osmolality than blood is hypotonic. The more hypotonic a solution is, the quicker it passes through the stomach into the small intestine where the bulk of the nutrient uptake occurs. A very low osmolality means the solution will get to your muscles with great speed and efficiency.
The higher the molecular weight of a carbohydrate, the lower the osmolality and the better it absorbs. So knowing this you can see that dextrose with a molecular weight of 180 pales in comparison to Vextrago with its molecular weight of 1,000,000 – 1,200,000+. This works out to an osmolality of 11 mOsm/kg for Vextrago versus 300mOsm/kg for blood. This means Vextrago is extremely hypotonic, and we know that the more hypotonic a solution is, the quicker it passes through the stomach into the small intestines. The faster you get to the small intestines, the faster you can start restoring glycogen and building muscle.
Vextrago Stacking
So now we know that the osmolality of Vextrago can dramatically speed up the rate of glycogen synthesis post workout, but an amazing added benefit is that it can also increase the uptake of almost anything that it’s stacked with. Speed to muscle is the game post workout, and that goes for creatine, aminos, and protein. All of these ingredients can be sucked right along with Vextrago into the small intestine and then shuttled via insulin to your working muscles.
Keep in mind when mixing any other macro nutrients with Vextrago that they all have their own molecular weight (much lower than Vextrago) so too much mixed in will raise the osmolality of Vextrago, thereby slowing down its gastric emptying and absorption. Your rate of absorption will still be faster than without Vextrago, but a bit slower than with Vextrago on its own or mixed with a few grams of amino acids.
